Walter Dearing Club Championship
Overview
The Club Championship is Allendale Country Club’s premier individual competition, bringing together the club’s top players to compete for the title of Club Champion.
2026 Championship Format
The 2026 Club Championship will be contested in a Match Play format, with an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round determining the eight players who advance to the championship bracket.
Eligibility
Players with a GHIN Handicap Index of 10.0 or lower as of the June 28 Mass Golf handicap revision are eligible to compete in the Men’s Club Championship.
Championship Schedule
Saturday, July 18 – Stroke Play Qualifying Round
Sunday, July 19 – Quarterfinal Matches
Saturday, July 25 – Semifinal Matches
Sunday, July 26 – Championship Match
Qualifying Round
All competitors will play an 18-hole gross stroke play qualifier from the Black Tees. The low eight scores will advance to the Match Play Championship bracket. Any tie for the final qualifying position will be decided by a sudden-death playoff beginning on Hole #1.
Match Play Championship
All matches will be conducted at scratch. The winner of the Championship Match will be crowned the 2026 Allendale Country Club Champion.

Registration Deadline: July 13
Entry Fee: $50 per player
Junior Entry Fee: $15 per junior
Tees
Championship play will be conducted from the Black Tees, measuring approximately 6,750 yards.
Additional Championship Opportunities
Players who do not qualify for the Match Play bracket may register for the Senior Championship and/or Open Championship held the following weekend.
Compete for the Title
The Club Championship represents the highest level of individual competition at Allendale Country Club and remains one of the club’s most prestigious traditions.

Eligibility
Senior Division: Players age 55 and older
Open Division: All eligible male players

Blue Tees
Gold Tees: Age + Handicap Index + 72–89
Silver Tees: Age + Handicap Index + 90+
Players will compete over 36 holes, with the lowest net score crowned Club Champion in their respective division.
Women’s Championship

Gross and Net Championships

Silver Tees (approximately 5,900 yards)
Women will compete for both Gross and Net Championship titles over 36 holes of stroke play.

Open to boys and girls under the age of 18

Boys Ages 15–17: Blue Tees
Boys Ages 12–14: Gold Tees
Girls: Silver Tees (approximately 5,900 yards)
Boys and Girls Under 11: 9-hole competition from the Silver Tees
The Junior Championship provides young golfers the opportunity to compete for age-appropriate championship titles while showcasing their skills in a fun and competitive environment.
